Alumna returns to her roots
Tanya Nickerson, a 2007 graduate with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture, has devoted many years to 4-H. In what might be a perfect match, she was recently hired by Cornell Cooperative Extension in Wyoming County (NY) as a 4-H Community Educator.
Carole Jones of the Arcade Herald, recently spoke to Nickerson about her new role and responsibilities:
In this role, she will help to coordinate programs throughout the year and at the fair, concentrating primarily on dairy goats and natural resources. Along the way, she’ll procure judges and speakers, and advisory committees will guide her progress.
“4-H is challenging,” Tanya said. “But it’s such a great feeling to see how the kids appreciate what we do. 4-H members are passionate about agriculture, too, so it’s rewarding to see the wonderful things they have done.”
