In addition to its extensive research and outreach programs, WVU’s Kearneysville Tree Fruit Research and Education Center has been playing host to a beginners’ beekeeping course. Lauren Hough McGill profiled the course in this article in The Martinsburg Journal:
“Tuesday evening, the group gathered again, abuzz at the thought of their real-life final exam – three-pound boxes of bees set for special delivery in April. More than 100 people took part in the introductory course, put on yearly by the Eastern Panhandle Beekeepers Association of West Virginia. Group President Gerry Fitzgerald said this winter’s class is the biggest ever.”
