GPS courses offered for natural resource pros

The Appalachian Hardwood Center, a joint initiative of West Virginia University’s Davis College of Agriculture, Forestry and Consumer Sciences and Extension Service, is offering a Global Positioning System (GPS) course in collaboration with Jonathan Kays, Natural Resources Extension Specialist with the University of Maryland Natural Resources Extension Specialist. Workshop participants will learn how to use GPS handheld receivers, with specific applications to forestry and logging uses. The advanced course will show how to integrate a free mapping program, Terrain Navigator, with GPS applications.
Workshops will be offered on the following dates:
Jackson’s Mill, Weston, WV
- Tuesday, March 24—Introduction to GPS; 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Wednesday, March 25—GPS and Terrain Navigator; 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Tuesday, April 14—Introduction to GPS; 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Wednesday, April 15—GPS and Terrain Navigator; 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
