Grazing conference set for March 6-7

The 2009 Appalachian Grazing Conference is set for March 6 and 7 at the Lakeview Golf Resort and Spa in Morgantown. Several faculty members from the Davis College will be sharing their expertise at the event:

  • Barton Baker, Director of the Division of Plant and Soil Sciences, will speak on “Reseeding Forest-Converted Areas.”
  • Bill Bryan, Professor of Agronomy, will speak on “Managing Fertilizer Inputs for Permanent Pasture.”
  • Gene Felton, Assistant Professor of Animal and Nutritional Sciences, will speak on “Grass-Finished Beef.”
  • Jason Evans, Research Assistant Professor of Agricultural and Natural Resource Economics, will speak on “Pasture-Based Beef Production in a Changing Economic Environment.”

The Appalachian Grazing Conference is a cooperative effort of the Greene County Conservation District (Pennsylvania), Ohio State University Extension Service, South Western PA Project Grass, University of Maryland Extension Service, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Research Service, USDA Farm Service Agency, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, West Virginia Association of Conservation Districts, West Virginia Conservation Agency, West Virginia Department of Agriculture and West Virginia University Extension Service.
