Small farms in the spotlight Feb. 24-26
WVU Extension will host its fifth annual Small Farm Conference Feb. 24-26 at the Ramada Inn in Morgantown:
“According to the 2002 Census of Agriculture, the value of products sold directly from West Virginia farmers to consumers increased 56% between 1997 and 2002. With similar trends in neighboring states, farmers markets, CSAs, and other retail opportunities are gaining popularity among both farmers and consumers. Direct-marketing outlets such as these outlets require a broad range of creative marketing and management skills. We invite you to take part in this extraordinary opportunity to learn and share your experience with other farmers, market managers, and community developers seeking to establish and expand viable markets for family farms in their towns and cities.”
