Division to host taxidermy course

David | January 15th, 2009

Ever wonder what you need to do to prepare the best specimen before you take it to be mounted, what skills are involved with taxidermy, or how to preserve your trophy once you bring it home? West Virginia University’s Division of Forestry and Natural Resources will sponsor “Taxidermy 101” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, in 308 Percival Hall on WVU’s Evansdale Campus.

The course will be presented by award-winning taxidermist Rick Dunlap of Rick’s Taxidermy of Buckhannon, WV, who will demonstrate how he prepares a white-tail head mount. Cost for the course is $25 and includes lunch on site.

Pre-registration is required, and the deadline for registration is Wednesday, Jan. 28. To register, or for more information, contact Ann Anderson in the WVU Division of Forestry and Natural Resources at (304) 293-2941 ext. 2441 or (304) 276-8950 or ann.anderson@mail.wvu.edu.
