The West Virginia University Appalachian Hardwood Center Hardwood Center invites the public to attend a Forest Stewardship Program Landowner Tour from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, 26, 2008, at North River Retreat, Delray, Hampshire County, where participants will meet with owner John Gavitt and his forester, David Warner to talk about managing this 437-acre private forests for multiple use.

Along with providing visitors with outdoor experiences ranging from fishing, hunting, hiking, and camping, Mr. Gavitt has successfully implement various management practices, including harvests. We will also learn how to salvage forests after storm damage. Come out and support the management of West Virginia’s private forests!
