Kotcon recognized for Outstanding Service

The Davis College?s Peer Review Committee has selected Jim Kotcon, associate professor of plant pathology, for the college?s Outstanding Service Award for 2008.
Kotcon has run a diagnostic laboratory for the identification of nematodes that was used by individuals and government agencies. He contributed to an update on the nematode management section of a regional Extension bulletin, and he has helped growers, Extension agents and others identify plant diseases and make recommendations for disease problems. Kotcon has reviewed manuscripts for technical journals and conferences, and he served on the program committee for the regional meeting of the Potomac Division of the American Phytopathological Society. He is the faculty advisor for two WVU student organizations, the Society of Environmental Professionals and the Sierra Student Coalition.
