The Davis College?s Peer Review Committee has selected Jinbao Yao, assistant professor of animal biotechnology and genomics, for the college?s Outstanding Research Award for 2008.
?Dr. Yao?s research program in functional genomics is the best-funded program within the Division,? said Paul Lewis, Director of the Division of Animal and Nutritional Sciences. ?Over his tenure, he has been directly responsible for approximately $1 million in external funding.? Yao currently has four active projects which include two recently funded United States Department of Agriculture/National Research Initiative proposals. Since 2003, he has authored or co-authored 23 refereed journal articles with 36 abstracts published and presented at national and international meetings. Yao oversees the trout genome project at WVU, which the Division?s Peer Review Committee describes as ?important work to the field of functional genomics and most directly to the functional genomics of reproductive physiology.?
